Soil Resources:
Wallace Farm in Huntersville (specifically their compost, raised bed mix, potting mix). It is usually found at Lowe’s too… but I like going to the farm.
Soil Supply

Plant Resources:
Shepherd’s Landscaping in Huntersville – great resource for shrubs and trees. They do not sell annuals
Creekside Nursery in Dallas – great resource for annuals, perennials and shrubs
Pike Nursery – great selection of lots of things
Lowe’s – don’t knock this big box store! They get a lot from Metrolina Greenhouse, local to Huntersville

READ YOUR PLANT TAGS!
Plant tags are such a valuable FREE resource! They will tell you the light requirements, how big the plants can get and how much water they need.

Colors:
Create a mixture of red, blue, yellow and green foliage.

Texture:
Use different textures and leaf sizes to create interest within landscapes and containers. Fern-like, grasses, glossy, etc. Think about the difference between a hosta leaf vs. a boxwood.
